5 Highlights from Our San Blas Islands Sailing Trips
If you’re dreaming of a truly off-the-grid Caribbean sailing adventure, few places compare to the San Blas Islands of Panama — an untouched paradise of over 300 islands, most uninhabited, all postcard-perfect.
Our San Blas sailing trips have given our guests the full experience of life at sea: sailing, snorkeling, exploring, and connecting with both nature and local communities. Whether you’re planning your first liveaboard sailing trip or your next big ocean expedition, here’s what it’s really like to sail the San Blas with Quest.
1. Waking Up in a Floating Paradise
Every day starts differently, but always beautifully. Imagine opening your eyes to a 360° view of turquoise waters, soft morning light reflecting off the hull, palm trees on the white sandy islands, and the sound of waves gently lapping the side of the boat. There are no roads, no noise, just you, the sea, and the freedom of the open ocean.
This is the beauty of liveaboard sailing in Panama — remote, peaceful, and endlessly inspiring.

2. Snorkeling Coral Reefs Teeming with Life
One of the highlights of any San Blas Islands sailing trip is the chance to snorkel the pristine reefs. On our latest voyage, guests swam alongside vibrant schools of tropical fish, stingrays, and even curious nurse sharks — all just a short swim from our anchored yacht.
We prioritize eco-friendly, respectful interaction with marine life, ensuring this reef paradise stays healthy for generations to come.

3. Experiencing Guna Yala Culture
The San Blas Islands are home to the Guna Yala people, one of the most autonomous and culturally rich indigenous groups in the world. Sailing through these waters is not just a nature expedition — it’s a cultural one too. We visit local islands, meet with artisans crafting handwoven molas, and learn about the Guna way of life, deeply tied to the sea and land.
For many guests, these authentic encounters are a powerful part of the journey.

4. Sunset Sailing and Beach Bonfires
After a day exploring the islands and the reefs, the calm of evening sets in — and it's magic. We enjoy dinner on deck, and if our guests are up for it, light a bonfire on a remote island beach. Freshly caught seafood, storytelling, good music and a sky full of stars: it’s hard to imagine a more perfect ending to a day of adventure.
This is the rhythm of our Caribbean sailing expeditions — wild, free, and full of life.

5. Quest is a one-of-a-kind expedition yacht
There is no other vessel like Quest. Designed and built by Captain Goeran himself, Quest was created with one clear goal in mind: to be the ultimate expedition yacht. Built for true adventure, Quest is capable of sailing anywhere in the world — from tropical archipelagos to polar waters — while offering comfort, safety, and performance on every journey.
Quest was also built with guest experience in mind. A high-capacity watermaker produces up to 5,000 liters of fresh water per day, allowing for the rare luxury of unlimited fresh-water showers at sea — something our guests deeply appreciate. The cockpit is spacious and fully shaded, offering ample room for guests to relax, dine, or enjoy the views while under sail. On deck, the dive ladder is specially designed for ease of use, even with dry suits and weight belts, making reboarding from the water effortless.
Accommodations include three private twin cabins, two additional berths in the saloon area, and one small double cabin. The yacht is also equipped with two bathrooms, each with fresh water showers, providing both functionality and comfort.
Quest is not just a yacht — it’s a purpose-built platform for diving, sailing, and exploration. Whether you're navigating the coral cays of San Blas or venturing into icy polar waters, Quest delivers a truly unique experience at sea.
